The largest spring celebration of sports and healthy lifestyle is coming very soon! In exactly one month, on Saturday May 18, Sberbank as a General Partner of the 22nd Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi will start the Green Marathon in 42 Russian cities for the second time.

Each runner will have an opportunity to take a step closer to a healthy lifestyle and to feel involved in the 22nd Olympic Winter Games in Sochi by conquering a token distance of 4.2 km. Upon completion of the sports run the participants and guests of the celebration will be able to contribute to the improvement of their city and thus to sustainable development of the country by participating once again in the tradition of planting trees in the cities which participate in the project.

In May 2012 over 30,000 sports enthusiasts participated in the Marathon all over Russia. In Moscow, 4,000 people took part in the event, including Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Svetlana Khorkina and Tatyana Navka, Ambassadors of the Sochi 2014 Games, Leonid Tyagachev, Honourable President of the Olympic Committee of Russia, and other guests. About 1,700 trees were planted by joint efforts in 42 Russian cities, and 3,000 more are to be planted in 2013 in urban parks and on the streets.

The preparations to the Green Marathon 2013 are under way at full speed. The participants exercise actively using mobile application called Green Marathon. Let us Run Together which develops personalized training program and offers new running routes. The app users add their steps to the National Pace Counter. Together we have already taken almost 44 million steps to support the movement towards Olympic achievements!

The Green Marathon is not just for runners. Their fans are welcomed, too. Entertainment program for children and adults will be provided as a part of the event.
