Russian Olympians conquer Russkiye Gorki in Sochi

The Russian Olympic ski jumpers started training at the Olympic ski-jump complex Russkiye Gorki.

The first to start were the representatives of the male ‘flying’ skiers: Denis Kornilov, Ilya Roslyakov, Dmitry Vasilyev, Aleksey Romashov, Aleksandr Sardyko, Ilmir Khazetdinov, Mikhail Maksimochkin, Vladislav Boyarintsev and Dmitrii Ipatov. All of them have got numerous titles and records under their belts, which was a kind of let-pass for them to enter the Olympic team. In the near future the ‘flying’ skiers will train on the smaller K-95 ski-jump complex. They are trained by professional trainers: Aleksandr Arefyev, Sergey Zubkov, Evgeny Plekhov. The Russkie Gorki ski-jump complex is one of the new generation complexes, with its special coating allowing sportsmen to train all year round. However, it takes some time to get used to it, the athletes admit. The ski-jumpers have approximately two weeks of trainings ahead of them. Next time they will come to Sochi in 1.5 moths, then they will also use the bigger complex K-125. This meeting is the first part of a series of full-scale training of Russian ski-jumpers on the Olympic complexes. The Russian team has more than half a year for trainings: ski-jumpers and Nordic combined skiers will take turns training here until the start of the 2014 Games.
