Khabarovsk performs the Sochi 2014 Fans’ Anthem

On June 15 an amazing concert was held on the embankment of the Amur River as part of the RED ROCKS TOUR, an event held as part of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad supported by Sberbank.

Thanks to this festival, the citizens of Khabarovsk had the opportunity to witness performances by stylish electro-pop band from a British band Fnech-Soler, Smyslovye gallyutsinatsii, a Russian rock classic, and Therr Maitz, a trendy Moscow electronic band.

The first to step up to the stage were the Therr Maitz, its members started their musical careers in Khabarovsk. Surprisingly enough the crowd needed no warm-up: the audience started singing along with the frontman Anton Belyaev straight away.

After these young guns the stage was taken by the true stars of Russian rock’n’roll music, the Smyslovye gallyutsinatsii band. Despite a logistical failure (the band’s luggage and instruments did not make it to Khabarovsk), the band put on a great show and impressed the crowd. “People supported us so good that we performed even better than we had planned. Now we think that maybe we don’t need all that electronic gear. After all it’s not about ‘trendiness’ - the people just came to hear their favourite songs,” Sergey Bobunets, the leader of the band commented on the show after their set was finished.

Before the headliners Fenech-Soler took the stage, the audience performed the Sochi 2014 Fans’ Anthem. This is a unique tune, since it was created in collaboration with the guests of the last years’ festival - music fans, sports fans and world-renowned musicians. In order for the music to sound even more massive and to let everyone feel as a part of the Olympic history, this year the Red Rocks team continued to collect voices across the country by recording the chorus together with the audience at every concert.

The British electro-pop band Fenech-Soler is now at the pinnacle of their popularity and is actively touring all around the world. Khabarovsk dwellers were lucky to have the opportunity to witness their show, not scared off by the rain that started just a couple of minutes before the start of their set.

But this was not the end of this musical journey: the next stop of the RED ROCKS TOUR was scheduled for June 23 in Vladivostok. Meet the RED ROCKS TOUR and Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad in your city!
