RED ROCKS TOUR and Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad Visit Tomsk

On July 21, the 15th RED ROCKS TOUR concert took place in Tomsk

Hundreds of spectators waiting for the concert to begin gathered in the Lagerny Garden on the Tom River bank. The event started at 5:00 p.m. sharp, when Subwave and Modular, two talented Moscow DJs, took their places at the DJ stand and performed back to back their half-hour progressive set.

Therr Maitz, a Khabarovsk and Moscow electronic band, was the first to come up to the RED ROCKS TOUR stage in Tomsk. The musicians boldly mixed styles that seemed to be polar opposites, for example, trip hop and electronic dance music.

Therr Maitz was succeeded by Yaroslav Maloy MACHETE’s project with his solo program. He performed not only famous hits such as Nezhnost (“Tenderness”), Ne Rasstavaites (“Don’t Break Up”) and Patsany (“Lads”), which were viewed online millions of times, but also tracks from the band’s first album, Rodina Mira (“Motherland of the World”), recently presented in Moscow.

Mumiy Troll, the legendary Vladivostok band, concluded the concert that gathered a total of more than 12,000 spectators. They exploded on TV and the radio with their hits Utekay (“Run Away”) and Kot Kota (“Cat’s Cat”) 15 years ago, but are still one of the most famous Russian bands. Tomsk enjoyed their original one-hour live all-hits performance. The audience’s joy was boundless: people gathered on the river bank sang in chorus Delfiny (“Dolphins”), Medveditsa (“She-Bear”), Fantastika (“Fantastic”) and other songs, not letting Ilya Lagutenko leave the stage until the last minute.

“We’ve come to the RED ROCKS TOUR just from our around-the-world voyage, which gave us our new album. We are happy to perform here in Tomsk. By the way, in a week we are going to play in the Olympic London at the RED ROCKS Festival to support our athletes,” said Ilya Lagutenko, Mumiy Troll’s lead singer. Ilya recorded a few sounds for the music sample library of the new RED ROCKS Internet project, Music of the Future. Collecting sounds all over the world for the future 2014 Sochi Olympic fan anthem, the managers promise to give anyone a chance to write songs together with famous musicians and see music all around.

The large-scale RED ROCKS TOUR, held as part of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad, will visit 40 cities within two years; concerts in Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ryazan, Kaliningrad and other cities will be held in the near future.

The next city to be visited by the RED ROCKS TOUR will be Krasnoyarsk where the concert will take place on Saturday, July 28.
