RED ROCKS TOUR in Irkutsk Presents New York Disco House Band Hercules and Love Affair and Records Sound for Sochi Olympic Fans’ Anthem

A RED ROCKS TOUR concert took place as part of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad in Irkutsk on 4 August.

Irkutsk became the seventeenth city to participate in the RED ROCKS music marathon, with Sberbank as the general partner. In each city anyone can participate in creating the fans' anthem for the Olympic Games in Sochi.

Easy M, a band representing the Moscow new disco scene, opened the RED ROCKS TOUR concert in Irkutsk. The group had already performed at the RED ROCKS TOUR concert in Ufa and the local spectators had received them with delight. Everyone especially liked the Snow Queen song. As they had promised at the press conference, the musicians played it for the Irkutsk audience too, along with other tracks.

Yaroslav Maly, with his solo project MACHETE, was next on stage. He performed not only the hits “Nezhnost” (“Tenderness”), "Ne rasstavaytes” (“Don’t Break Up”), and “Patsany” (“Lads”), but also tracks from the first album “Rodina mira” (“Homeland of the World”), scheduled for release in early autumn.

DJs Subwave and Modular took up, playing a progressive set to prepare the audience for the performance of the RED ROCKS TOUR Irkutsk headliners - the disco house band Hercules and Love Affair from New York. The band played dance music from their first album, Hercules and Love Affair, and slower songs from the second album, Blue Songs, to an ovation of over 5,000 spectators.

“We have already performed at the RED ROCKS Festival in the Sochi mountains and we liked it. This is why we agreed to play at the RED ROCKS TOUR in Irkutsk. Actually, you are very hospitable, which makes one want to come back over and over again,” Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair shared his opinion. Andy then also recorded sound for the sample library as part of the RED ROCKS ready-to-launch online project “Music of the Future.” Collecting sounds all over the world for a Sochi 2014 Olympic Fans' Anthem, the organisers promise to give everyone an opportunity to write songs on a par with popular musicians and see music in everything around them.

The large-scale RED ROCKS TOUR taking place as part of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad will visit 40 cities over two years, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, and Kaliningrad being next in line.

Yaroslavl will be the next city to be visited by the RED ROCKS TOUR. The concert there will take place on 25 August.
